What Dogoo is

Dogoo is an apartment information service for New York City. It collects public rental listings, checks them against public records and shows you the ones that fit what you asked for.

Dogoo is not a real estate broker. It does not show apartments, negotiate for you or sign anything for you, and it never contacts a landlord or agent in your name. Inquiries it writes are drafts that you send yourself.

Free beta

While Dogoo is in beta, every account gets Search free, with no card on file. Pro tools (research leads, negotiation briefs and the lease check) are not part of the beta. Search includes: every match from every listing site we watch; building, price and photo checks, up to 12 a day on your strongest matches on their own, plus any you ask for; checking listings you paste, up to 10 a day; inquiries written for you to send yourself; roommate matching and chat, My list and alerts on your phone. We will tell you at least 14 days before paid plans start, and nothing is ever charged without you choosing a plan and entering a card yourself.

Free trial

Every account can use everything free for 7 days, once. The trial starts when your first search goes live. No card is needed and nothing is charged when it ends.

When the trial ends your account moves to the free Watch level, which shows your top 3 matches.

Plans and billing

Search costs $14.90 and Pro costs $29.90 for each 30 days, charged in US dollars through Stripe. Plans renew every 30 days until you cancel.

You can switch plans, update your card, see invoices or cancel from your account at any time. When you cancel, your plan stays on until the end of the month you already paid for and is not charged again.

Refunds

New York Real Property Law section 446-c lets an apartment information vendor keep no more than $15 of a fee when the customer does not rent an apartment through the information it provided.

If a month you paid for ends without you renting through information from Dogoo, write to us and we refund everything above $15 for that month within ten days. Our fee never exceeds one month's rent.

Listings and accuracy

Listings come from public sources and can change or disappear without notice. We remove ones we learn are rented, but we cannot promise that every listing is still available or that every detail a landlord posted is true.

Building records come from NYC Open Data and are shown as published.

Fair housing

Dogoo matches apartments on what you need, like price, size, location and commute. Apartment matching never uses race, religion, national origin, sex, gender, disability, familial status, source of income or any other protected trait.

Roommate matching is different because you would share a home. If you choose to give your gender, it can be shown on your roommate card and used for a women only or men only household preference, which New York law allows for shared living. Giving it is optional.

Roommates and community

Roommate cards are shown only to people whose plans, budget and habits fit yours, and only while your card is on. Nobody can message you until you say yes to their hello.

Be honest on your card and kind in chats. No harassment, discrimination, scams, requests for money or deposits before a signed agreement, or sharing someone else's details. We remove cards and accounts that break this, and we act on every report.

Dogoo does not verify people's identity or background and is not a party to any agreement between roommates. Meet in public first and never pay before you have seen the room and signed.
